Privacy Policy — Planner
Effective date: October 20, 2026
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Planner is a homeschool lesson planner and day log published by Goodmernin ("we", "us"). This policy explains exactly what the app does with information, in plain language.
The short version: your data stays on your device and, if you turn on sync, in your own Google Drive. We do not have servers that store your data. We do not collect analytics, show ads, or sell anything to anyone.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy covers the Planner app for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and the optional Google Drive sync feature inside it. It does not cover Google's own handling of your Google Account, which is governed by Google's privacy policy.
2. What the app stores, and where
Planner is a local-first app. Everything you enter — school years, learners, subjects, planned lessons, logged time, notes and settings — is written to a folder on your own device that you choose the first time you run the app (either the app's private storage or a folder you pick). The files are plain JSON and CSV so that you can back them up, inspect them, or open them with other tools.
We never receive this data. There is no account with us, no upload to us, and no server of ours holding a copy. We — the people who make Planner — never access, view or handle your data; the app works entirely on your device and, if you enable sync, talks directly to Google using your own Google Account.
3. Google Drive sync (optional, off by default)
If you choose to sign in with Google, the app can mirror your data folder into a folder called Planner in your own Google Drive. This has three consequences worth being precise about:
- What we ask for. The app requests the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.filescope. Google describes this as per-file access: it allows the app to create files and to read or modify files that the app itself created, or that you explicitly open with it. It does not allow the app to browse, read, or modify the rest of your Drive. - Where the data goes. Into your Google Drive, under your Google Account. The app talks to Google directly. It does not route your data through any service of ours, and we cannot see it.
- What we could see. Nothing. We have no access to your Google Account, no server that receives sync traffic, and no ability to read your Drive.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings, and you can revoke the app's access to your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access stops future sync; copies already written to your Drive remain in your Drive until you delete them.
4. What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information from you.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs. The app contains none.
- We do not use cookies, tracking pixels or fingerprinting.
- We do not sell, rent, trade or share information with anyone.
- We do not use your data to train machine-learning models.
- We do not have a server that stores your lessons, learners, or time logs.
5. Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure
Planner's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In practice, for this app that means: Google user data is used only to provide the sync feature you asked for; it is not transferred to third parties; it is not used for advertising; and it is not read by any human at Goodmernin.
6. Children's privacy
Planner is a tool for parents, guardians and educators — it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the app is designed for home education, you may enter children's names and learning records. That information stays on your device (and in your own Drive if you enable sync). It is never sent to us. You control it entirely, and deleting the app's data folder deletes it.
7. Network connections the app makes
The app makes only these outbound connections:
| Destination | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
accounts.google.com, oauth2.googleapis.com, www.googleapis.com |
Only when you sign in or sync is enabled | Google sign-in and Google Drive sync |
goodmernin.com |
Windows builds, periodically and when you choose "Check for updates" | Downloading the update feed so the app can tell you a new version exists |
As with any HTTPS request, the destination server can see your IP address and the time of the request. We do not add any identifiers to update-check requests, and the app works fully offline apart from sync.
8. Exports and backups
The app can export a spreadsheet (CSV) or a full backup (zip) at your request. Those files are written wherever you choose to save them, and they are yours to store or share. We are not involved in that transfer and never receive a copy.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
- Delete individual records in the app at any time.
- Delete everything by deleting the data folder you chose (or uninstalling the app, for app storage).
- School years can be moved to the app's trash and purged from Settings.
- Google Drive copy: if sync was on, delete the
Plannerfolder in your Drive, or revoke access as described in section 3.
Because we hold no copy, there is no separate deletion request to send us. Deleting your data is entirely in your hands — which is the point of the design.
10. Security
Data is stored as ordinary files in the folder you choose, protected by your device's own file permissions and, if sync is enabled, by your Google Account's security. Traffic to Google and to our update feed uses HTTPS. We do not claim to encrypt your local files beyond whatever your operating system or Drive provides — if you need encryption at rest, use an encrypted disk or a Drive account with the protections you require.
11. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. With Planner those rights are exercised directly in the app and in your file system: your data is already in a portable, human-readable format, and you can read, edit, copy or delete it without asking us. If you believe we hold something about you and want to confirm, write to us at the address below and we will tell you plainly that we do not.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at https://goodmernin.com/privacy. Material changes will be noted in the release notes for the version that introduces them.
